Now the competition reason to fear Northug – Adresseavisen

Today he was only one second away from winning the 3000-meter in Steinkjer. Northug, who is not among the best cross-country skiers in circuit races, was clocked at 9.00,53. Winner was the son of cross-chief Skinstad, Petter Skinstad.

The end time shows that Northug has trained very well in recent weeks and has serious intentions to winter. Whoever thought he rested on our laurels after the success in Falun, has been wrong.

Tense training

– We have trained well over the past week, with much quantity and long stake sessions on roller skis. We were anxious to see how the legs would be. Initially we leave us behind, so did the young athletics runners doing their job. And so did we as Petter Northug has a habit of making the end, says Skinstad to Adresseavisen.

He praises the organizers of Steinkjer:

– Cheerful organizers and much keen athletics youth pleasures also cross-country skiers says Skinstad.

He has trained with Northug in Trondheim in recent days and shows the result at approximately the same time last year, when asked what he thinks about Northug form currently. 10-second improvement, thrown in the difficult conditions of high winds, show that Northug has come very good progress with season preparations.

Coach Stig Rune Kveen were not in place in Steinkjer, but chatted with Northug after the race.

– He was happy. He thought the time could have been even a little better without wind.

Fewer height hours

Northug has made some changes in the plan, including added several long stake sessions than last year. Still, he has not stated whether it is long runs or traditional cross country he would bet the winter, but all indications are that it is a combination solution.

The plan for what will happen until the first snowfall is now established. In it lies a part limited in height, but not the same number as last winter.

– Petter going to emerge at some athletics competitions in the future. He has smoothly started a new season, says Kveen.
