One in three engineers fear losing their job – Sunnmørsposten

It comes from a survey Norwegian engineering and technologist organization (NITO) has made among its members. Especially Western Norway stands out negatively, which more and more engineers believe that their jobs could go with the tide, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.

In April answered 21 percent of Nitos members that they fear losing their job, compared with 18, 9 percent in January.

On the west coast, this share increased from 25.7 to 29 percent. In Rogaland Act Now 32.3 percent said they fear that jobs will be lost, an increase of two percentage points this year.

– When you see colleagues around you be fired and lose your business mission, it is understandable Some are troubled, says President Trond Markussen in NITO to Stavanger Aftenblad.

NITO president is concerned that downsizing is moving too fast. NITO believe namely that the downturn in the oil industry are temporary and that the engineering competence therefore need to be taken care of. (© NTB)
