Will make it more expensive to recharge at home – DinSide

Your side Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) wants the network tariffs must reflect the load that each power customer applying online. They therefore considers the charges to be distributed differently than today, making it more expensive to use a lot of power at once, and more profitable to reduce power output.

They have sent a proposal for consultation, where the outlines several models for how this can be solved.

One of the models is that you use a lot of power at once, should have to pay more in tariffs than other spreading power consumption over time.

Capture the can net more than the neighbor?

The aim is that this can save mains for high load, thus saving society for investments in new power networks.

– The mains must be sized so that everyone gets enough power, even when consumption is at its highest. Power Customers who have a high power output, ie power-consuming at one time, charge the net more than customers who spread the power consumption ahead. We are now considering whether network tariffs should be designed to a greater extent than today reflect how different consumption patterns affect network companies costs, says Ove Flataker, director of NVE, in a press release.

Cheaper than before you’ve even consumption

In consultation which is now out, outlines NVE three models for the calculation of net costs:

  • Customer measured power outlet in benchmark hours
  • Customer fuse (determines how much power the customer has the opportunity to withdraw from the net)
  • Customer subscribed effect (“broadband model”)

  • They emphasize that a change anyway should not increase your companies’ revenues, but rather allocate network costs between customers better.

    – This means that people who have equipment that draws a lot of power, may have to pay higher tariffs. A steady power consumption will result in lower tariffs than its current structure, says Flataker.

Energy efficient products can be more expensive to use

    What is grid?

Grid pay to the local grid company, and the amount will cover the company’s costs for electricity transport, including in order to transfer power to your house. Net Leia will also cover the costs of construction, operation and maintenance of the electricity network.

Grid consists of a fixed part and a variable part, which depends on your power consumption.

Unlike electricity, which you can purchase of mostly which power company you want, you can not even choose operator for tariffs.

What is worth noting is that the new, energy-efficient products may end up costing you more in tariffs than previously.

NVE pointing especially on products with high power output – as electric vehicle chargers and throughput water heaters.

    – The new direct water heaters, for example five to ten times higher power output than traditional boilers. Although the new products can be energy efficient, they help to increase the need to invest in new networks.

    – The program that we have outlined will make it cheaper to “fill full tank” on the electric car, but it may be more expensive to charge it quickly, explains Ove Flataker.

Although most charger at home with low power, there gradually opportunities to charge at higher power and thus faster, too home. This assumes of course that you have the capacity and equipment for this.

According to NRK, prohibits Gudbrandsdal Energi vast track its customers to rapidly charge – and require them to pay for the promotion of the mains if they absolutely insist.

It is also interesting to see how, for example the new charger to Tesla will turn out in relation to such changes in tariffs, when they come home charger that can charge anywhere in your home – not just electric car

Will you be using smart devices

There are now many products that allow you to monitor power consumption Your. Via an app, you can easily get an overview of how much power you bridges, and where the big power thieves are. Have very high consumption somewhere in the house, you can get notice of it – and thus have an opportunity to examine and possibly do something with electricity thieves.

This is an example of equipment that can get consumers to get a more active approach to their electricity consumption, and is something NVE wishes.

    – When the power customers will use these opportunities depends partly on how the network tariff designed, writes NVE in the press release, and says that it is part of the reason for the new sketch on the grid.

The deadline for comments is 15 August. Thereafter NVE consider the inkomne answers, before a decision is taken about changes in network tariffs.
