Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad – He shall rule Hydrogen Factory – Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad

With Sarpsborg artist An Doan Nguyen at the helm, it will be both circus and cultural diversity in the Hydrogen plant at Øra.

– You will be everything from circus, the cinema, concerts, children’s events, indoor picnic and major exhibitions. The aim is that there will always be something in Hydrogen plant on weekends, he said.

– We must be bold and vital and fill the unique hall with art, culture and entertainment that appeals to a wide audience, he adds to.

New exhibition

Almost quietly has sarspborg artist opened a new exhibition hall, which is open all weekends throughout the summer.

– After the Art Hall AS, which Østfold Art Center Drive, went bankrupt earlier this year, we had to take some grip. An alternative was to remain closed in the summer, but we decided rather to do the opposite. Now we have filled the hall with works by artists mainly related to Hydrogen plant, telling Doan Nguyen.

These are some of the artists participating in the exhibition which runs until September 6, Bjarne Melgaard, Kristin Romberg, Tor-Magnus Lundeby, Helene Torp, Carl Nesjar, Sverre Koren Bjertnæs, An Doan Nguyen, Davood and Trygve Enge Braathen.

– We are talking about over 40 artworks in the genres painting, glass art and graffiti, informs An Doan Nguyen.De recent years he has held a number of exhibitions. In addition, he runs Khloden Kunstmateriell in Hydrogen factory, where he has a studio.

Will run the center itself

Fredrikstad Innovation Park, which owns Hydrogen plant, even want to drive cultural future. It implies a certain change of course compared to earlier when Østfold Kunstnersenter ran the business.

– As artistic director I would think broadly. Visual art will continue to receive high priority, but we will also open the hall for other activities, primarily of cultural nature. The goal is to create a lively town, a lot of fun out here, saying An Doan Nguyen.
