Sikorsky Aircraft is behind a number of military helicopter types, among them Black Hawk and Seahawk, and is currently owned by United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
Lockheed says that the effective cost of the acquisition is approximately $ 7.1 billion, because it provides a tax benefit of approximately $ 1.9 billion.
The acquisition which has a price tag just over 73 billion, is expected to be in the box around the turn, according to the group.
Lockheed has around 112,000 employees worldwide and last year had net sales of $ 45.6 billion. (© NTB)
