AI – How should they gain control of artificial intelligence – www.digi.no … – digi.no

Earlier this year it became known that the powerful Tesla founder Elon Musk invested millions in the organization Future of Life Institute (FLI), which is dedicated to researching the impact of artificial intelligence in humanity.

The intention is to inter alia examine whether the growing trend in artificial intelligence could pose a danger for the world as it is today.

Now talking Institute on how the money from donations will be used.

These get money

FLI has namely published a list of the research team who will receive financial support, and what projects they take for themselves. There are 37 organizations that receive funding, selected from over 300 who had applied. Around seven million US dollars to be divided between them, and when they put on with the job in September, they will be guaranteed support for three years.

The remaining four million dollars will be distributed later.

The 37 organizations have very different approaches to the issue, from the safety evaluation of learning and the importance of artificial intelligence in the economy, through ethical guidelines in AI research, rather abstract and philosophical reflections on human control of autonomous weapons systems.

The department is committed to nedspille performances that they will primarily thwart the doomsday and the machines takeover of the world. They want science fiction will remain science fiction, and instead focus on specific issues surrounding artificial intelligence that exists today and may emerge in the future. It is mainly a question of addressing ethical issues and set clear rules for research within the field. Although FLI are grateful that films like Terminator helps to create interest in the subject matter.

Elon Musk has admittedly expressed genuine concern that artificial intelligence can be more dangerous than nuclear weapons, but the point is anyway to set guidelines and restrictions today, while the development of artificial intelligence is still at an early stage.
