The importer of Camel was Conrad Langaard AS, established in Oslo right back in 1854 and was the first company that manufactured cigarettes in Norway.

American Camel was indeed an import product. Six years before the ban on tobacco advertising was introduced in Norway, was advertising in no way unusual.



The turning point

Something was still about to happen, says Una Johanne Engmark, as last year submitted his thesis on tobacco advertising. In the 30s people used the health benefits of smoking as a selling point. Conrad Langaard AS, which is now owned by Olav Thon Group, is also Norwegian importer of Camel today. The company did not want to comment on this matter.
