The extroverted succeed
He has for years been working to develop employment psychological tests, and has also written the book “The right person in the right place.”
– In a traditional interview, we prefer people we like rather than using more objective criteria for competence that recruitment is all about. It is undoubtedly one dream venue for the extrovert, who are more comfortable when meeting strangers and talking about their achievements.
He believes a structured interview, in which all candidates are treated equally in terms of questions and assessment criteria, also prevents discrimination.
Ask about strange things
– The more standardized method, the less discrimination occurring in the selection, and there is a greater chance that minorities coming through the cracks, says Skorstad .
He agrees with Fafo researchers that employers are little prepared for what to ask about and look for.
– They may ask about the strangest things, like civil status and which animal you want to be. Then it is chance that decides.
– “Interview lions’ take fort directed
– It appears that unstructured job interviews have negligible value because they are often not considered candidates against those important for the position, but trust your instincts. The chat is often unpredictable, and you do not get compared to candidates on an equal basis.
It says Guri Larsen, director of recruitment agency Adecco Search & amp; Select. She says their mission is to keep employers in the ears to prevent too much let emotions settle.
– Without solid matter, there is a tendency for the “interview lions’ take control by talking the way and present themselves in a favorable manner. Similarly, the more introverted perhaps only reply brief on it asked for. Hence the need for a fixed layout that allows all candidates are assessed in the same way, says Larsen.
She says few people in the companies make use structured interviews, with the exception of large companies with professional HR departments .
