Oslo’s streets today was full of busy Christmas jumpers, but it is actually a cliché that many people buy gifts at the last minute.
– It is basically a small cliché, but it figures show is that it is mostly men who are late. Our Christmas shopping survey, as we have done for over ten years, shows that around 2 percent of the population starts with Christmas purchases after December 20th. But they are no doubt that most of them are men. They concern mostly fewer but more expensive gifts than women, says press officer Stein Arne Tjore Nets delivering payment, card and information solutions in the Nordic countries.
Control on gifts?
There has also been a shift towards Christmas food to be enjoyed during Christmas, purchased later and later, but most have control on theirs. But there are enough men who are going to run frantic around the shops on Christmas Eve this year, and buy more expensive gifts than planned.

Christmas sales increases this year
The Norwegians are also happy to take the cards before Christmas. Figures from Nets show that card use has risen by 6 percent from comparable days last year.
