The broad-based S & amp; P 500 index in New York reached new heights and ended at 2078.76 points. It is up 0.39 percent from the weekend before and around 3 points higher than the previous peak on December 5.
Industrial index Dow Jones rose while 0.89 percent, while the technology heavy Nasdaq gained 0.34 percent .
American markets have cheered since the US central bank last Wednesday signaled that low interest rates will be maintained in all until the second half of
next year. 
Also European and Asian markets rose Monday in the prelude to the Christmas holiday. (© NTB)
