Mariner contract 1.4 billion to Aker Solutions – Technical Magazine

Aker Solutions has Sirk a contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, supplying engineering, construction and commissioning of the Mariner field in the British North Sea.

The company reported in a press release Monday morning.

The contract has a value of over 120 million pounds sterling, which with today’s price equals 1.4 billion Norwegian kroner.

In addition, Aker Solutions previously secured a five-year contract for maintenance and modifications on Mariner feltetmed operator Statoil.

Mariner field is a heavy oil field in the UK sector of the North Sea. Statoil is the operator of the field.

The field comprises a gross seven billion US dollars, and the field will contribute more than 250 million barrels of reserves, with an average production of about 55,000 barrels per day.

The chosen solution consists of a production, drilling and quarters platform with a steel jacket, and a storage vessel.

The field has a life expectancy of 30 years.

Statoil writes in his description of the field that heavy oil projects have necessitated the development of innovative technology.

– Since Mariner field were found thirty years ago have different operators conducted numerous development studies for the field. Statoil is the first company that presents a development solution that fully safeguard the complexity of this field, particularly related to reservoir management, recovery and project implementation, the company writes.
