According to Airbus’ Global Market Forecast will over the next 20 years (2016-2035) will be needed over 33,000 new aircraft with more than 100 seats (32 425 passenger and 645 cargo planes greater than 10 tonnes). Airbus is based on an expected annual passenger growth of 4.5 percent.
It is estimated that the world fleet in 2035 will be doubled from the current 19,500 to nearly 40,000 aircraft. The estimate is that 13,000 aircraft will be replaced by more fuel-efficient aircraft.
The main driver for growth are increased wealth in emerging economies, especially in Asia, and increasing urbanization.
Over 10 year domestic traffic in China will be the world’s largest airline market.
Airbus also predicts that there will be a need for 500,000 new pilots over the next 20 years.
