Both prime minister Erna Solberg and Norwegian trade and industry minister Monica Maeland encourage customers to use forbrukermakten.

Norwegian trade and industry minister Monica Maeland was on Tuesday in the summit meeting between the ministry and the confederation of Norwegian enterprise, food and beverage as well as Dagligvareleverandørenes association (DLF) about the competitive situation in the dagligvarebransjen.

Mæland encourage customers to change store if they are not heard.

I understand that many are unhappy with that Rema among other things, terminate the relationship with major suppliers such as Mack and Lerum. It is we as consumers that determines whether this is a good idea of the Rema. Each of us must use the power we have as consumers. We must act where we find the goods we want. I encourage you to switch store if you are unhappy, says Mæland in an email to DN.

She adds that it still Rema who must consider which suppliers to buy goods from.

– It is the Rema who must consider which suppliers to buy goods from. This is a commercial and not a political question, says Mæland who is responsible for konkurransepolitikken.

the Rema director of communications, Mette Fossum is critical to næringsministerens statements:

–It is experienced very specifically that a minister enters and says something about the negotiations between the parties in the private sector, and especially when it is the direct fault grounds. I really hope not that the minister meant what she said, says Fossum.

She believes that Maeland has not set itself in reality.

– To listen to customers is just what we do. Therefore, the wrong basis næringsministeren and the prime minister speak out on. We will continue to sell Lerum juice all over the whole country, and Mack in North-Norway.

prime Minister Erna Solberg engaged in Rema-sorting out when she accidentally visited Lerum in Sogndal on Tuesday.

– There is a challenge with concentration in the retail market in Norway. And it is important that we consumers ask for goods, said prime minister Erna Solberg to NRK Sogn og Fjordane.

Fossum argues that, in practice, is to be the industry leader Norgesgruppen who get to decide who gets the entry.

– do you Think it is inappropriate that the government interferes?

– Yes, if it is they do. It was a good timing for the suppliers that the prime minister visited Lerum. At the suppliers, there are many who have wanted another forhandlingsresultat. This is a fight about the purchasing terms.

toss out the chips and detergent

the List of products disappearing from the Rema-the shelves have just been longer and longer as the result of leverandørforhandlingene is known.

at the same time as the prime minister visited Lerum in Sogndal, it was known that the juice – and syltetøyfabrikken Lerum is one of them hardest hit.

the Prime minister stated to NRK Sogn og Fjordane that one should not kimse by the power of the consumer.

I get happy when I hear that, Lerum through campaigns have managed to keep julebrusen, so maybe we as consumer goods must be tydlege that we want a wide range of Norwegian goods and product in the shelves, says prime minister Erna Solberg to NRK Sogn og Fjordane.

Previously it has been known that brands such as Kims, Sprite, Fanta, Ajax and Palmolive to disappear out of the Rema-shelf as a part of the so-called best friends strategy.

Also brands like Dove and Knorr from Unilever is out in the cold, according to Aftenposten. The same shall also apply to foreign brands such as Uncle ben’s and Haribo.

Will strengthen the competition

Norwegian trade and industry minister Monica Maeland points out that there is broad agreement that it is a demanding competitive situation in the retail market.

She states that the government is working with several measures to improve competition, including an expanded inngrepshjemmel that the competition authority should have more opportunity to intervene against a lack of competition.

– The best had been to get several players into the retail market. Therefore, we have initiated a work to find out why it is so difficult to get new stores and store chains in Norway, says Mæland in an email.
