All in Rolls-Royce Marine in Norway are offered a severance package – E24

The staff got sluttpakketilbudet Monday, writing Sunnmørsposten.

I’d like to emphasize that this is a voluntary arrangement. We have not set any targets on the number of applications that can come in, explains director of communications Anette Bonnevie Wollebæk to the newspaper.

She adds that the offer to take the severance package is one of the measures the group is implementing to cut costs. The employees after the newspaper know of the two-week deadline on the search. Outside of the notice period the company offers three to seven months of salary. The plan is to sluttpakkene three effect 1. march.

Rolls-Royce lit in December that they planned to downsize with 800 employees in marinedivisjonen globally. 1. December of last year, the company had around 1.800 employees in Norway, 1.630 of them are working at the five departments in the county of Møre and Romsdal.

Over a third in Norway

Marinedivisjonen consists of around 4.800 employees distributed in 34 countries.

Since 2015, the group has cut about 1.000 jobs, and half of these have been cut in the Uk, comes out of the press release.

– It is never easy having to go to the step to downsize, but we have no other choice than to continue to adapt ourselves to the market. We have a fundamental strong business that will be working through the short-term but major challenges, and at the same time focus for future technology that will create growth, ” said Mikael Makinen, director of Marine at Rolls-Royce in a press release in December.

Need to cut and develop

It is the tough times in the oil industry which is the main reason behind the cuts, and the director of communications Wollebæk says that they are now going to have to get down costs in a difficult market.

It is currently not known which countries will be affected by the cuts, but according to the communications director, it is natural to assume that it will be cut in Norwegian workplaces.

– It is likely that it will have an effect on us in Norway also, since we are, after all, a large proportion of the employees in the marinedivisjonen, said Wollebæk to E24 in December.

– Get to see how many

The employees have been aware that it could be any cutbacks in the workforce, but still don’t know how many that is going to stop.

– We’ll see how many there are when sluttpakkene conclusion, ” says a representative Kjell Bjørn Hatlebakk of the trade unions at Rolls Royce Propulsion in Ulsteinvik to E24.

The last few years, many companies in the offshore nedbemannet without offering severance pay, which is an offer to the employees to quit voluntarily to get the salary in few months extra. Hatlebakk think it is a good tool to use.

I don’t see anything negative in the severance package, he says.
