The value of Gaasø shareholding in the Trøndelag farming company has been increased from 38 million to 755 million, Finance writes newspaper.
In early 2012, the salmon price NOK 25 per kilo, and one share in Norway Royal Salmon was traded at 6.50 kroner. Gåsø and family owned since 14.7 percent of the company, directly and indirectly through family company Gåsø Business Development. Finansavisen calculation shows that the value of the shareholding is increased to over 750 million over four years later.

Worth a billion
Gåsø bought up further in Norway Royal Salmon, and now owns 17.7 percent of the company. The entire shareholding has a market value of around one billion.
– The trend in salmon values we have seen in recent years, there is hardly anyone who foresaw. No one who worked with salmon five years ago thought one could see rates of 70 million, so we have seen in years, says Gåsø Finansavisen.
Gåsø bought our cabin to Danske Bank Director Thomas Borgen for around 13 million.

Driver in north
Gåsø explains that Norway Royal Salmon has done so well partly because the company established itself in Troms and Finnmark, while it was not so attractive. Lower ocean temperatures in Troms and Finnmark make the area less vulnerable to one of the industry’s biggest problem in recent years, lice.

green concessions
the company has also been awarded nine green concessions, which it paid ten million crowns for each. Financial newspaper estimates the value of each of the concession to 100 million.
Gåsø is also the largest shareholder Frey Group, which is doing well in service to the aquaculture industry.
