The number of active rigs in the united STATES rises to the highest in over a year – E24

According to statistics, there were 729 active rigs in the united STATES, 17 more than in the previous week. Of these, 583 oil rigs and the entire increase came from this category.

It is the highest riggtallet since December 2015, as there were 737 active rigs in the united STATES.

In Canada fell however the number of active rigs to 343 from 345 in the period.

“Comeback” for riggaktiviteten

The big drop in oil prices from the autumn of 2014 went hard beyond riggaktiviteten in the united STATES, where it was over 1.900 active rigs at the most.

the Bottom was reached in may of last year when the number of active rigs was down in 404. This was the 318 oil rigs.

But after the oil prices started to climb, from below 30 dollars a barrel at the lowest to reach near to 54 dollars a barrel for the u.s. lettoljen, woke up skiferoljeprodusentene to life again.

the price of oil rises on new Iran sanctions

Since bunnpunktet it has become 80 percent more active drilling rigs in the united STATES, which contributes to expectations of increased oil production.

In his last report estimated statistikkbyrået to the american energy that us oil production will rise from an average of 8.9 million barrels per day in 2016 to 9.0 million barrels per day in the year and further to 9.3 million barrels per day in 2018.

The estimated productivity gains on due largely to increased production in the Gulf of mexico. But also rising skiferoljeproduksjon as a result of, among other things, increased drilling activity and riggeffektivitet is expected to contribute to the increase in production.

Think for a bit higher price of oil

Energy waiting that lettoljeprisen (WTI) will be on average 53 per barrel in 2017, before it rises to 56 dollars per barrel next year.

According to the oljeanalytiker Torbjørn Kjus of DNB Markets, there are now two forces that now pull in each their direction on prices.

– It is the Opec cuts that keep the downside in check, and the expected skiferoljeproduksjon which keeps the price in check on the upside together with salgspress from oil producers as prissikrer one to two years ahead of the curve. It has so far kept oil prices in check, said oljeanalytikeren to E24 earlier in the week.
