Fridag agreement
Overtime agreement was a treaty after some intense days of cancellations and hefty phraseology between the parties.
the agreement means that the much talked holiday agreement continued. This enables Norwegian to get pilots to work on days when they really have free, thereby avoiding cancellations due to crew shortages.
It has stormed around Norwegian departures this summer. This weekend was at least 18 departures canceled due to pilot shortage.
These occurred after the agreement between the company and the pilots on holiday purchases expired on 1 July. Norwegian is dependent on agreement to have enough capacity in peak periods. Yesterday enlightened Halvor Vatnar, head of the Norwegian Pilot Union (NPU), that the agreement continued.
50 new pilots
But the long-term solution is that NPU has won approval to hire more regular pilots. This will reduce the need to buy holidays.
– We have signed an agreement that Norwegian employ at least 50 new pilots. It has been our main concern, said Vatnar Dagbladet last night.
The flight manager in Norwegian, Tomas Hesthammer will not go into detail about what the agreement contains, but says to NRK that the appointments will take place during the autumn.
– It will not have immediate impact in July. we have also put in place holiday agreement again so we can buy holidays from pilots, says Hesthammer. he believes this will be enough for the Norwegian will now get the passengers until its destination in the summer, he said.
