– That which does not renew itself, will crumble – Today’s Business

Petter Stordalens worst investment ruined a date – the next may be artificial intelligent and data driven.

– 2016 has been a great year for Norwegian entrepreneurs, ” says hotellkongen Petter Stordalen.

He promised in his autobiography to give a million kroner to the entrepreneur who presented the best idea for him. It resulted in a landslide of gründerhenvendelser – around 1000 in total – that was the card down to the six who came to the finals and had to present the plans for the Petter Stordalen in the fall. At the top of the luxury hotel The Thief went strømappen Tibber with the victory. The app will ensure the customer the cheapest renewable power.

– win-Win for the environment and your wallet, ” says Stordalen, who offered the finalists investments of four million, and is hungry for more.

– Is the Norwegian established companies in general, well or poorly prepared for the technological changes?

Many of the Norwegian businesses located on the arrears. We are far too small for an innovative and proactive when it comes to test out the new technology. But the one that does not renew itself, will crumble. It means that absolutely everyone must be on the ball when it comes to challenging the established, whether it is own value chain or the way one communicates with the customer.

Moves forward one industry that you think are particularly ripe for especially large technological changes for the next five years?

– The best exercise for a skaperglad entrepreneur is to list the ten industries that are ripe for “disrupsjon”. There you have the answer. It is today’s market. I think any industry has the potential to be renewed through the new disruptive forces. If the market interprets today’s solutions and established actors as “good enough”, is it something that the market ignores. And there is the leeway you as an entrepreneur must find and exploit.

– What is your most exciting investment, and why?

– The last year has Nordic Choice Hotels spun off a separate company that is only going to work with technological innovation and distribution for hotels. We invest several hundred million in the company eBerry, and in the course of 2017, we introduce the world’s most innovative hotel booking app.

– What is your worst investment and why?

20 years old, I bought a burgunderfarget Willys Jeep. A warm julidag I took the train to Skoppum, paid for the car and drove off in a hurry home to pick up tonight’s cinema-date. Before she had time to fasten the safety belt began to striregne and my new pride lacked a roof. The result was a failed date, a rainy Norwegian summer and a car, a bargain in the holiday was finished.

If you would invest 100 million dollars in these technologies, how would you spread them?

  • Artificial intelligence: 40 million
  • Big data: -40 million
  • Delingsøkonomi: -15 million
  • Drones: – to 2.5 million
  • Robotisering: – to 2.5 million

– Are there any of these technologies that intimidates you, and why?

Definitely not. We are totally dependent on new technological solutions if we are to solve the really big problems in the world. New and effective climate solutions and a more sustainable food production depends on even greater investment in both technology and research. And I think we will be amazed at the sectors that are totalforvandlet as a result of new technologies developed for other industries.

As prime minister, what would you do to make Norway more future-oriented?

– It is not the politicians who know best what are the industries that will be most valuable in the future, it is the market that decides. But they may in a greater degree to facilitate for all the ambitious and innovative companies and entrepreneurs we already have in the Uk.

– do you Have a gadget, app or digital service that you are particularly fond of or something you really want?

– the App GoodNotes is my new favorite. I’ve always liked to write by hand, but it is a lot of paper and messy for those around me. Now I read favorittrapportene my Ipad and the app means that I can write with the pen directly in the document. A delightful and papirfri arbeidshverdag!
