Former bank manager sentenced for million-infidelity – Today’s Business

Eksbanksjef Sturla Pettersen (40) is ordered to pay back 11 million to the bank and to imprisonment of 2.5 years.

The former banksjefen in Vang Sparebank is in the Oslo district court sentenced for financial misconduct for the approximately 28 million.

Pettersen is judged to have acted in breach of the bank’s interest when the obligations were entered into at three companies that later have gone bankrupt or are dissolved.

One year of his imprisonment of 2.5 years is made conditional in the judgment, which is not legally enforceable.

Økokrim believes that the Oslo district court has considered the forsvarligheten of the former banksjefens kredittarbeid in a timely manner and that the punishment reflects the tillitsbruddet, according to politiadvokat Jens H. Bachke.

Eksbanksjefens defender, Per Danielsen, says that the verdict will be appealed.

” We think that the sentence is too strict, especially when the bank has a hidden secured by a lien on several items. It is difficult to understand that it is not justly to safeguard the bankes interests, ” says Danielsen, and adds that in the judgment was a dissent on several points.

Pettersen was vice president in the two years before he had to leave the job. The chief executive of the bank, he was responsible for seven employees and a total assets of 434 million.

By straffutmålingen the Oslo district court in the lenient direction laid emphasis on the fact that the defendant has not had any personal gain.
