Maxbo-boss has joined to lead the Oslo Marathon. Now come Maxbo-owner Carl Otto Løvenskiold as a senior executive until a new chief is in place.

Maxbo-chief Karen Kvalevåg (50) have terminated after two years in the job. As a substitute teacher comes skogeier Carl Otto Løvenskiold (63) as the owner byggevarekjeden.

Karen Kvalevåg, who came to Løvenskiold Handel after leading Jens Ulltveit-moe’s restaurantimperium Umoe Restaurants, now runs in a completely different direction.

I’ve got a new job that sounds exciting. This is completely undramatic, ” says Kvalevåg.

Sharper competition on the building materials

Byggevarebransjen have the last couple of years been characterized by a high new entry from the chains that Obs Build and Byggmax.

May Rita Heggelund, who is the manager for Byggmax in Norway, has previously stated to DN that she believes Løvenskiolds Maxbo now have noticed the high market entry from the Coop and Byggmax.

– Maxbo has had a kjempeposisjon in the Oslo area and new businesses from the Coop in this area have probably challenged their position in the greater Oslo area. Now we have in Byggmax taken on us piggskoene and will have high etableringstakt also in this area, in addition to other parts of the country, ” says Heggelund.

As the DN wrote in the autumn, Maxbo and the company cut 120 man-years in the last year. Kvalevåg do not want to comment on the economic developments in the company she left.

Løvenskiold commenting on the development in this way:

We are pleased with the development of Maxbo and look forward to a new year with great activity in the byggevarebransjen.

In 2015 got Løvenskiold Trading a profit of nok 84 million of a turnover of 4.1 billion.
