The group has decided to cancel the contract with COSL Pioneer, ca. 13 months before the contract expires in August 2016, said the oil company on its website Wednesday.
COSL Pioneer has been suspended since October 8, 2014 and Statoil has not been able to fill the time after this with activities for the rig.
Director of Procurement, Jon Arnt Jacobsen, sorry cancellation, but stresses that it has with rig deliveries to do.
– COSL Pioneer and crew have exercised a good safety culture and have delivered efficient drilling operations for Statoil. The cancellation is a consequence of excess capacity for the fleet, he said.
