The meeting will take place in the Ministry of Culture 12 pm Friday, said the ministry said.

The players in the grocery industry believes the law on Sunday opening of shops is unclear and could be interpreted differently. There has been considerable discussion in recent months about how the rules are drawn up and how they are enforced.

Wednesday Aftenposten wrote that culture minister now wants answers from grocery chains about what happens to the Sunday opening stores.

Refused to sign

Fagforbundet and Commercial Office and the main organization active have jointly developed guidelines to ensure uniform application among chains. The so-called “Sunday poster” was launched on April 21.

Bunnpris, Coop and Norway Group supported the initiative, but great actor Rema is still not included.

Jan Frode Johansen Rema Franchise has spoken to Our Country that they not going to sign the agreement as long as they believe the competitors have Sunday opening stores that go beyond the 100 legitimate square meters.

Barrier tape

Rema chose to not take advantage of Brustadbu solution, but began instead a practice of setting up cordons in their shops Sundays so that customers available shop area lay within the legal 100 square meters.

Christian Democratic Party spokesman Geir J. Bekkevold has reacted to the practice, believing it to draw cordons through parts of a retail space offenses.

– We’re going to use cordons on Sundays culture minister gets involved and define what those rules are, said Johansen Our Country earlier in May.

in the wake of the reviews have Rema continued to reveal offenses by measuring the competitors’ shops with clusters and measuring tape.

exceptions in the law

Rema has also submitted a proposal for the Ministry of Culture to study the holy day again and possibly open an exception in law that provides grocery stores chance to stay open on Sunday.

the grocery chain believes the proposal could serve as a compromise, since there appears to be a majority in Parliament that all industries can stay open on Sundays, according to Aftenposten.
