Shell bid for Helge Lund BG Group – Aftenposten

The Dutch oil giant Shell should have submitted a bid to buy the British oil and gas company BG Group. Shell wants to acquire the company for 46 billion pounds, according to The Wall Street Journal. This corresponds to around 549 billion Norwegian kroner.

BG Group confirms that they are in talks with Shell, but is also clear that it has not reached an official bid yet, according to the Financial Times.

Bid The Wall Street Journal sources tell about is around 50 percent higher than the market value of British Gas and Petroleum, which is one of world’s largest producers of natural gas.

The former Statoil top Helge Lund took over executive job BG in February this year, a full month ahead of schedule.

Before he took over the job in the British oil and gas company was Lund CEO of Statoil in over 10 years, and chaired including merger with Hydro oil – and gas division.

One of the first Lund had to do in his new role in BG Group was to write down the value of the firm’s oil and gas holdings by 9 billion, the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.
