Kristiansund for gas discoveries – Future Requirements

Tuesday arrived Transocean Spitsbergen Kristiansund and is now looking at Bremsnes on Averøy. It came now from Aasta Hansteen area.

The rig was built in 2009, which is 120 times 77 meters, will be making a cargo handling and demobilization of equipment while it is at Bremsnes from 9 to 15. June.

The rig owned by Transocean and leased to Statoil.

New gas discovery for Statoil

Statoil and its partners have made the third gas discovery of three months, this time in Gymir prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

The latest discovery is a gas column of about 70 meters. The findings in the last three months show important progress in its efforts to detect all the potential of the so-called Aasta Hansteen area, writes Statoil on its website.

– Exploration Campaign our 2015 around Aasta Hansteen has proven an upside potential in the area . The total estimated volumes in the three discoveries Snefrid Nord, Roald Rygg and Gymir constitute 75-120 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalents, which corresponds to one third of the recoverable volumes in Aasta Hansteen field, says senior vice president for exploration activities in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, Dan The tip, in a statement.

Fastest completion

All three wells have been drilled very effectively and is the fastest completed deepwater wells ever on the Norwegian shelf. Gymir well is completed in only 13 days, which is quite unique for a deepwater well.

– The total savings on the three wells is 50 days or 360 million, compared with the original plan. This is a result of STEP (Statoil technical efficiency program) in drilling and well, and the ability to land-based planning team and the crew of the Transocean Spitsbergen to exploit the full potential of the drilling process, said Thor Emil Bensvik, head of Statoil’s drilling operations on the Norwegian shelf.
