Google Inc. is not just a search engine. There is a huge company with over 57,000 employees worldwide including also owns Youtube.
In a press release which was released Monday night, wrote Google creates Larry Page how he and co-creator Sergey Brin plan to reconstruct the company .
– Our company operates well today, but we believe that we can cultivate it even more. So we will create a new company, called Alphabet, writes Page.
Alphabet becomes a new parent with a collection of companies including Google.
Google so it is today, according to Page be slimmed and streamlined as an internet company where Engine will remain as it is today.
– Sensible
Head of google Norway, Jan Grønbech, says to NRK that it seems like a sensible reorganization.
– If all the peripheral products Google has been involved in, from even moving cars to research on health, disappear , it will allow Google to streamline what we should be the best at. Namely to organize the world’s information and make it available to users, he said.
– This will lead to an increased focus on the product search and be better at dealing with people’s needs.
He does not believe that Google Norway will change its name to Alphabet.
– I expect it will remain Google Norway, says Grønbech.
New Google CEO
Larry Page will be CEO of the new company, while Sergey Brin becomes president. The former product director Sundar Pichai, the new boss of Google.
– Sergey and I have been very excited about the progress and dedication to his company. It is clear for us and our directors that it is time for that Sundar becomes CEO of Google.
Pichai has been in Google since 2004 and was one of the candidates to take over as CEO in Microsoft when Steve Ballmer joined in February last year.
Good experience
Page writes in the press release that people initially seemed skeptical of Google, but that he and Brin likes to try out things that people may perceive as crazy.
– We did a lot that seemed crazy at the time. Many of these things currently has over one billion users, as Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome and Android. And we have not stopped there. We’re still trying to do things that people think are crazy but we are incredibly excited, he writes.
Alphabet will replace Google on the stock market but Page writes that anyone who owns shares will get it the same number of shares in Alphabet with exactly the same rights as before.
