According to online newspaper, the former bank manager granted loans and overdrafts and guarantees to individuals and organizations that had not set the necessary security to the bank.
The defendant’s lawyer, Per Danielsen, says his client disputes the charges and has behaved correctly and followed the bank’s guidelines.
– When the bank lends money they must also withstand the loss. My client is personally hung out for everything that’s gone bad, says Danielsen.
It is the bank itself that has reviewed the circumstances. There will be talk of 16 loans, credits and guarantees in the period 19 July 2010 to 6 May 2011.
– We believe the offenses occurred by virtue of his authority as general manager, and that loans, credits and guarantees was given to people who otherwise would not get this in other banks, says chief public prosecutor in ØKOKRIM Trude Stanghelle. (© NTB)
