The Telenor management puts a lid on DTAC case – Dagbladet.no

(Capital): In mid-April revealed Kapital that Telenor suspected corruption in the Thai subsidiary, DTAC, and that it had initiated internal investigation.

The magazine wrote that Telenor had started to examine a number of matters relating to the practice around gifts and donations DTAC and that suspicions related to various sponsorship activities and donations to public authorities.

– These are things that have come up throughout including internal audit, so I’m familiar with, said chairman Svein Aaser da .

DTAC is Thailand’s second largest mobile operator, and Telenor is the largest shareholder with an indirect stake of just over 65 percent. Company turnover in Q1 2015 more than 5.4 billion and an operating profit of NOK 772 million.

Telenor transparency

Capital asking specific questions to both Telenor’s Asia chief Sigve Brekke and senior management in Norway to get to the bottom of the amounts in question, but no one wanted to answer the question. That despite the fact that the company in its principles and rules of good corporate governance writes that: – We believe that good corporate governance involves openness.

Telenor’s Asia chief keeps cards close to chest and has not returned any of Kapital many issues in the case.

Neither Telenor’s chairman Svein Aaser, or management of the company wanted to provide some concrete answers to Kapital questions about this.

Instead of answering the questions, Telenor’s communications manager, Glenn Mandelid, on behalf of Telenor sent what appears as an advertising text for how well their purpose is. Here it is claimed also that Brekke family itself has had no personal gain for their work.
