Researcher: The lunch may be toxic – VG

The Norwegians and packed go hand in hand. Now warns molecular biologist that lunch favorite may contain dangerous substances.

Last June was introduced forbidden to manufacture, import, export and sell consumer products and textiles that contains perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in Norway.

But it does not apply to products that you use to wrap your food.

– I think this is absolutely absurd. One can not wear a jacket with this drug, but our food we can pack into it. These pollutants leaking into our bodies, says Marianne Brattås to Bergen newspaper, which first publicized case.

Molecular Biologist and PhD student Brattås has written an article on the University of Bergen their websites, where she warns against toxic substances in food packaging. Drugs may increase the risk of cancer, fetal damage and reproductive harm.

Brattås asking people to think about before choosing packed paper or other types matembalasje, both for health and the environment.

Kristine Bjerve Gützkow, researcher at Institute of Public Health, told VG that one should not fear sack lunch.

She is like Brattås agree that PFOA should be prohibited because it has a long half-life in the body.

– You’ve seen the context of some health challenges, but it is not acutely toxic. I think one should not be anxious. Man may well be a conscious consumer and squeeze manufacturers in this way, because we want the drug removed from the environment, says Gützkow VG.

POFA occur in even the lunch box or paper such as cardboard cups. The drug makes the food will not stick, and makes the paper water and dirt resistant.

Brattås recommend using the Swan label food and shims paper if you want to avoid PFOA.
