– We got feedback that much of what we do is good. But they want more of things, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
To summarize her Wednesday’s meeting she, finance minister and two other ministers had with selected managers business and labor. It took place in the Government’s official residence in Parkveien in Oslo.
The Prime Minister had two messages after the meeting:
- Business is pleased with the Government’s policy and want more of it same.
- Elements of Corporations experiencing actually better times and new opportunities, while with the downturn in the oil.
NHO will Having a move
Director Petter H. Brubakk attended NHO meeting in Parkveien.
– The government is built on the right track, but some remains on the wealth tax and the tax system. We know, for example, where the government settles for rate of corporation tax.
– Is it right spots you want more of the same from the government ?
– Yes, it is understood correctly. We want more of the same and we want it faster, says Brubakk .
Marked problems
Solberg uses words like “industries “and” geography “when she describes the state economy.
– There are challenges in industries in Norway, geographical challenges associated with rising unemployment, related to lower activity in business, she says.
Then comes the other side of the medal.
– But there are also many good stories about businesses that are actually experiencing better times, better access to labor, greater opportunities to develop. We’ve got lots of good advice at work, the Government should make the short-term measures but also on the long-term restructuring, says Solberg.
LO more to municipalities
LO’s chief economist Stein Reegård also attended the meeting, but are not as happy as NHO.
– We have supposed one must turn their efforts to prioritize employment. This means that the municipal economy should have been better, for it provides jobs directly, he said after the meeting.
He will also have greater momentum in the appreciation of education and skills.
– There are very serious problems, especially among the young who meets lavlønnskonkurransen. So there must be something dagpengsystem, measures and education system
-We are not government to agree with much of what you say now?
– Jo! But I think they have trouble assimilating how severe it is. The last eight years have all job growth gone to foreign labor. Although the past year, only one in three or one in four jobs that go to Norwegian arbeidskrfat. It illustrates the pressure on the expertise and competition in the labor market, says Reegård.
Statoil will have stability
Technology Director Margareth Øvrum was Statoil’s participation in the meeting.
– We is in the midst omtillinger our industry. It is important to have stable conditions ahead. It is important with new acreage – and innovation, not least.
– Should tax for oil companies change?
– We have not asked for any changes in tax conditions. Having stable and predictable framework conditions, it is important for us, she says.
Petroleum and Energy Tord Lien attended the meeting. He says the government has done all oil companies are requesting.
He is comfortable with the tax rules.
– The tax system ensures both the oil and gas resources on the shelf, the Norwegian people’s property, and it safeguards the Norwegian continental shelf will be an attractive place to invest. So the system is good. There must be established forever, but that there is no great need for major changes in the system, it seems I did not, he said.
Jobs with the state budget
Solberg says Government’s efforts the 2016 budget goes through the demand for more of the same from the Conservatives and the Progress Party.
– We get praised for what we have done on industrial research. The business community would of course also measures relating to tax, they look forward to a tax. It is also underlined from the companies that will have to continue the reduction in wealth tax, for it is among one of the small and medium-sized enterprises are experiencing as a burden, she said.
Unchanged unemployment – or lower
Solberg stuck on unemployment estimates in the revised national budget.
– We have no other numbers. We have said there is considerable uncertainty associated with these.
She opens fact that unemployment may be lower. Government figures were made before it got good news in the oil.
– Now these are indeed the assessments made before the recent award of contracts for oil field Johan Sverdrup. As was the situation in my home area that businesses really were in danger of having to terminate many. There is now not a fact, now is the employment and growth in these areas, she looks.
The unemployment peak is reached
The Prime Minister observes that others who predicts the unemployment rate is around 4.1-4.2 percent, as measured by Statistics Norway (SSB) method.
The revised national predicts Government 4 percent unemployment this year and 4.1 percent next year measured by SSB method. In March, the 4.1 per cent.
The government predicts other words, the unemployment peak has already been reached. Henceforth it will not rise more. Unemployment was 114,000 people and 4.1 per cent in March, which is the last figures from Statistics Norway.
Wednesday la NHO makes projections that are about the same as the Government’s. NHO predicts 4.25 percent vacancy rate as an average for this year and next year.
But behind these average figures there is a further rise by a further 25,000 vacant from March levels to a peak next winter, then a foredring through 2016.
