Kjos sorry Norwegian trouble – NRK

– We are grateful that so many travelers choose to fly Norwegian and we are going to work hard also to maintain the trust of our customers – also in light of the problems we’ve had now at the beginning of July, which I strongly apologize to everyone affected, says CEO Bjorn Kjos said in a statement posted on Norwegian’s own pages.

Cancelled departures

CANCELLATIONS Several travelers received notification of canceled flight last weekend.

Previous weekend was at least 18 departures with the airline canceled and many Norwegians got an involuntary extension of the holiday stay.

Later it emerged that Norwegian does not have sufficient manpower to fly all departures they have set up, if not the pilots their dropper holidays and working extra instead.

Labour Expert January Tormod Dege believed airline gambled with passengers.

Mass delays

It is a statement about passenger numbers in June the Norwegian boss uses this opportunity to regret.

the figures show that nearly 2.8 million passengers flew with Norwegian this month, 317,821 more than the same month the previous year.

But many the flights did not go as they should.

the company writes that 69.8 percent of the flights departed on time, which means that roughly 30 percent of departures were delayed.

Norwegian himself explains:

“A number of factors affected punctuality for the month of June, including weather- related challenges and more strikes. Strike by French air traffic controllers adversely affected traffic in Europe, while fuel strike in Norway affected operation in Scandinavia. “
