Seafood exports to 42.6 billion in the first half – OBI Online

Salmon accounted for 27.9 billion of export crowns, but “virtually the entire seafood industry has had a fantastic first half,” says the Norwegian Seafood Council in a press release.

– The Norwegian seafood industry is experiencing tremendous growth in export value first half. The good figures show that there is great demand and we have achieved good prices for Norwegian seafood. A favorable currency situation are certainly a positive, says communications director Geir Håvard Hanssen.

Salmon exports increased by 28 per cent and contributed to pushing the cut out for seafood as a whole.

– Increased global demand combined with reduced Norwegian exports have driven prices up. EU market has maintained its share, while exports to the US have increased, says analyst Paul T. sizeable share in the Norwegian Seafood Council.
