the Case continues below the advertisement.
– Many of the employees who have worked hard and done a good job for Telenor in many years has today received a heavy information. They will now get the close follow-up in the further process. It is not an easy decision to add jobs, but at the same time, we must renew and change expertise, ” says Berit Svendsen, ceo of Telenor Norway.
Svendsen says that Telenor’s customers shall be offered increasingly more automated and simple services and that it becomes more self-service, so that their relationship to Telenor being as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Telenor will lead the way in the capture of Norway, and that means that we more often than before need to make changes in our own organization and the way we work. We see that the trend in the market occurs very quickly, and we need to make sure that Telenor is best equipped to meet the challenges of the digital shift, ” says Berit Svendsen.
The employees who now suffer and who do not get to be on will be offered severance package after tenure.
– Raw and cynical
This is far from the first nedbemanningen in Telenor. The company has for years had to deal with a sharp decline in the number of subscribers to landline, large investments in fibre and mobile, as well as an increasing competition for the services that are delivered from the major players internationally.
In 2014, wrote the E24 about a downsizing of 450 employees and consultants in Telenor Norway, but it managed without layoffs.
In 2015 notified Telenor a downsizing of 170 permanent positions due to a reorganization and modernization in fastnettvirksomheten.
the Union of El and IT association, which organizes many of the employees in Telenor Norway, is very critical of the decision that has now been taken:
– This is a raw and cynical policies. It can not be described differently. To replace lengeværende employees with accrued rights and seniority with recruitment companies and new hires with all other salary and working conditions, ” says the head of the El – and IT-associated, Jan Olav Andersen VG/E24.
He believes the employees who are now cut off supplies services Telenor regardless continue to be.
Telenor is also not in some economic crisis – on the contrary. This won’t defend, ” says Andersen, who believes cuts will go out of our customers and the quality of the Telenor delivers.
Associated have spoken up and come to that there are 188 people who now lose their jobs.
– Could have been avoided
In the union Negotia they believe the cuts could have been avoided. The union points out that many of those who now lose their jobs is “good adults” with long seniority, and that this is contrary to the invitation that many politicians and others in public debate comes about that people need to stand longer in the work.
– This is outrageous. A part of the affected employees could still had jobs going forward, if management had followed the Negotias call for greater focus on capacity building and kompetanseendring of their own employees, ” says Roger Rønning, an elected employee representative for Negotia in Telenor, in a press release.
Rønning says that they have urged Telenor to raise the expertise of the staff, just to meet the demands of the business going forward.
– We understand that Telenor Norway must change in relation to competition, automation and the digital shift, but believes that it be taken out too many staff too quickly and that it also is a great risk in this, ” says Rønning, adding that they experience that they are getting increased strain and that Telenor must hire the necessary expertise externally.
– Required
familiar to us, certainly not again in the. This is unfortunately a necessary transition. Technology is changing constantly, ” says managing director Caroline Lunde at Telenor Norge when she is confronted with the statements of El – and IT-associated.
She points out that all brukerundersøkelsene their shows that customers want more help via chat or other online solutions:
– We notice, for example, an increasingly smaller number of calls to customer service.
Lunde says that the realignment and the changes that are happening now are so extensive that “it did not hold” to just drive the raising, so the union Negotia claim:
– This is not a pleasant day for us here in Telenor (…) but we need a different structure, ” says Lunde.
She says that Telenor is trying to do nedbemanningen and the reorganization as painlessly as possible, and that they have their own measures to help the elderly arbeidstagerne to find new opportunities.
– It’s probably not easy to get the message anyway, ” says Lunde.
Telenor has previously spent large sums of money on reorganisations, but what this round will cost, the company has not overview of per date. The company emphasizes that the use of hired labour, as Negotia criticize, is just temporary:
In a omorganiseringsperiode we will have additional needs for staffing. This is temporary, not a permanent solution, ” says Lunde, and adds:
the Focus now is to maintain those employees.
