In an article in Dagens Næringsliv warns Håland against the specialized forbrukslånsbankene. He claims Norway is a paradise for banks lending money to bad customers, in a market with high growth and few loan losses.
– This is the banks with aggressive marketing, they take a very high interest rates and several of the customers end up in financial trouble. Still, the financial markets seem to be thrilled, ” says Håland. He believes many of the customers of these banks are in arrears with the payment of interest and installments, and so hidden from a possible tapsbølge.
From 2018 it introduced new accounting rules that will force banks to take losses in the past and it can get the problem to light.
Håland has seen customers with three players in this market, Bank Norwegian, Complete the Bank and the island Bank, and concludes that 20 per cent of its customers are in arrears with payment in one form or another.
the Cfo Pål Svenkerud in Bank Norwegian dismiss the numbers as wrong. Complete the Bank will not comment on the specific numbers and yA Bank has not responded to the newspaper’s inquiries. (©NTB)
