due to low oil prices and a fall in the market has Siemens Subsea announced that about 95 man-years in Norway will be affected by layoffs or permitteringer.
In addition, affected approximately 60 employees in the united Kingdom.
This was communicated during the meetings Wednesday 16. november.
oil prices have dropped by over 55 per cent in the last two years. This has led to a dramatic fall in the market and fewer projects that are demanding our solutions, writes the company in a message Thursday.
– Worse than feared
From a totalmarked in the world at approximately 550 projects in 2014, the company has now fallen to a totalmarked in under 30 projects in 2016. The development has been worse than the company had feared at the start of 2016.
the order intake is 50 percent lower than budgeted for 2016, while revenue ended 1/3 behind the budget for 2016.
Siemens Subsea now expects the market will have a flat development over the next two years, and the company is therefore overbemannet.
Siemens Subsea adjust the organization so that the company is more flexible and can meet changes in the market faster.
– This is a situation we should have been besides. It has been a tough market long, and many people have seen that permitteringer and layoffs could come. It is always a difficult situation for those who now are affected, ” says Ari Dahl at Siemens Subsea.
– We now have two hovedprioriteringer. First, it is absolutely essential that we do what we can to help ensure that we get as good a process as possible with the staff. At the same time, we ensure that customers and suppliers are followed up and still get the monitoring they should have in the future. This includes that we are continuing research and development which will ensure that we are at the forefront when the market picks up again, ” he says.
Consequences of the reorganization
