Oil price fall creates more uncertainty, but shipyards top Kristian Monsen Rokke (31) believes Aker Philadelphia Shipyard is well positioned despite sharp stock market decline.

The shipyard builds including crude oil tankers calling at US ports.

The question is what will happen to the demand for such ships when oil prices plunging. The company has fallen 62 percent on the Oslo Stock Exchange since May.

– We are comfortable with the situation. In sum, we neutrals to oil price fall. But there is no doubt that it is created more uncertainty in parts of certain segments of the market, says Rokke told DN.



Impressed minister

He showed trade minister Monica Mæland (H) around on the traditional shipyard on the US east coast.

The businessman Kjell Inge Rokke oldest son has led yard through a turnaround of the rare.

Under his leadership, from 2011 to last spring, went yard from empty docks to full order books. Meanwhile, the market value from 40 million to 2.6 billion.

– I’m impressed, said Mæland.



Three parties


Rokke roses collaboration between employees, Norwegian subcontractors and local politicians, but will not say what the government can learn from the process.

– I have no idea. But we have put incredible greatly appreciate the support we have received here. It has been an important part of our turnaround, says Rokke.

– What role did local authorities?

– This has been a very good partnership between private and public interests. It has been very important for us, says Rokke.

Now leaves 31-year-old rudder shipyard veteran Steinar Nerbøvik, but will continue as Executive Chairman.

– It is easy to continue for a guy who Kristian. He has laid a good foundation, says Nerbøvik.

Kristian Monsen Rokke has lived most of his life in the United States, but recently purchased villa to 26 million near his father’s giant dwelling Konglungen in Asker.

– I can confirm that we have purchased property, and we look forward to settle us in Asker, he told DN relocation plans.
