Can stop Kvaerner sale – BergensAvisen

Kvaerner announced Wednesday that it has started a process where a possible output could be that the company is sold to China, for example. A sale must be approved by the Congress, says Øyvind Korsberg (FRP) and Else-May Botten (Ap) in Parliament’s industry committee to Today’s Business.

FRP supported the coalition government’s controversial decision in 2007 to pony up 5 billion to keep Aker Kvaerner in Norwegian hands and establish a joint ownership of the two industry giants Aker Solutions and Kvaerner. The agreement with Aker and others-owner Kjell Inge Rokke implies that changes in the ownership structure must be approved by the parent company Aker Kværner Holding, and thus of the state. Korsberg and Botten will not leave the decision to the government.

– It sounds to me natural that a case like this should be anchored in Parliament, says Korsberg.

Botten points out that the agreement on a joint ownership of Kvaerner effect until both parties agree otherwise.

– However, since ownership is rooted in Parliament, must change, as I see it, also discussed in Parliament, she said. (AFP)
