– There is progress, but also many open questions. In some cases it is far more willingness to compromise. But we can not say how much more we need, says a source representing one of the three creditors, the European Commission, the European Central Bank (ECB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The so-called troika require reforms back from Greece in exchange for payment of emergency loans that the Greeks need both to service debt and to pay salaries and pensions.
These negotiations have been going on for several days and is scheduled to end Sunday.
– The fact that negotiations are underway, is a good sign, and how they take place likewise. But we need further progress, said an EU source told the German news agency DPA.
The Greek government announced on Thursday that it is willing to make concessions after showing strong resistance against creditors’ claims about privatization of state companies and even more cuts in salaries and pensions. (© NTB)
