Here went karakterne through the roof – Dagens Næringsliv

Examination of national censorship sends economics students at Sør-Trøndelag University College straight to the top.

The article has been added to your reading list.

Friday wrote DN on how the national character incision in the subject accounts went straight to the basement after the spring exam, where all country students were assessed by a common national examination committee.

Twice as many coats on the exam compared with previous years, and the national character average fell from 2.36 to 1.9. At BI is the failure rate quadrupled.

By Sør-Trøndelag University College, the mood is very different.

Despite the fact that students are the country’s cheapest in operation they do the best of the exam .

Former school has remained just above the national average, but this year had an average college who was less than 1.6 grade points above the national average, ie almost twice as high.

– It is not surprising that our students are doing well, but we had not expected that we would separate ourselves so powerful, says Espen grass Violence, dean of the School of Trondheim, which is part of HIST.

In strictest created

When examination papers from students at HiST this year compare to students from the rest of the country, the proportion who received an A from 1 percent to 26 percent.

– We may have been the toughest team in the past, but we want that diploma our be linked to quality, says Grass Violence.

Ida Bolsønes, Economics student and leader of the Student Union at BI Trondheim, think it’s good the Ministry of Education and NOKUT now look more closely at character practice at the country’s various colleges and universities.

– An A at another school and an A with us is obviously not the same, she says.

She is happy that the students at HiST achieves good results using national examiner, but points out that it may be perceived as unfair to former students.

– I do not know about it is HiST which has been too strict or the other schools that have been too kind, but it may well be that some will feel a little cheated.

Sets high standards

Last year required the 51.2 grade points from upper to start college bachelor’s degree in accounting and auditing.

Anders Berg Olsen, program director of the bachelor’s degree, according to the good performance comes from the quality of the student body .

– Our students are very motivated and accustomed to working hard already when they come to us from high school. We have no secret recipe for top grades, but a study program that requires students to work steadily and much.

Ida Bolsønes confirms that students at HiST is flittige.Hun think the student community and the high grade section allows students at HiST are more motivated than students at other schools.

– People want to do well, we have a strong culture of working hard.

Varying character practice

Also, students at Harstad University College, Buskerud University College and the University of Nordland did markedly better than at previous examinations under trial with national censorship.

Also, Nord-Trøndelag University College make a jump in the statistics, but here are the number of students per litter too low to have a statistically relevant.

Minister Thorbjorn Røe Isaksen (H) said in a statement that the examination results can be an important tool for raising quality of Norwegian education.

– The large differences in grading that appears is worrisome. It’s not good for education, institutions or students, and is something education places must address.

Terje Morland, CEO of NOKUT, believes it is too early to conclude what is the reason behind the divergent numbers, but ask institutions to grasp the issue.
