Found man under the bed in the NAV action – Varden

In May took action against police in Stavanger 14 parents suspected social security fraud. One month later, 51 single parents notified the Nav that they have found back to your partner.

Usually receive Nav monthly messages from two to three single parents that they no longer live alone.

  – We recognized a connection between the action in May and the large number of parents who have reported that they have found each other again, says Department Gerda Baustad Sirnes in Nav Control west.

During the campaign in May, police found, among other things, a family man who hid under the bed somewhere, and a man sleeping in a double bed somewhere else. All 14 parents were brought in for questioning on suspicion of insurance fraud totaling around 3.5 million.

Seven cases concern a serious fraud or complicity in this, from 200,000 to 800,000 respectively.

In cases where NAV benefit abused, often parents joined forces scam. Usually one party entered a different address, while the couple actually live together.
