Sandefjord / Stavanger: Today, Statoil awarded Aker Solutions a major contract for the Johan Sverdrup field. The contract has a value of 4.5 billion, according to Statoil.
The contract includes engineering and procurement management for riser and process platform covered Johan Sverdrup field’s first phase, in addition to interconnects and walkways for the entire field.
The contract is valid until the scheduled start of production in 2019.

Fornebu, London and Mumbai
Aker Solutions says that the work of Johan Sverdrup engineering at most will involve 1,000 engineers. These will be distributed to engineering offices at Fornebu, London and Mumbai.
Communication Manager in Aker Solution, Bunny Nooryani, according to TU, the majority of these jobs ports abroad.
– When we are at the maximum working capacity of around 1,000 engineers, will around 400 of them work in Norway, she says.
The remaining 600 engineers distributed among offices in England and India , with about 300 each.

Nooryani points out that to perform parts of the engineering work outside Norway, Aker Solutions a large recruiting base which ensures that oil company gets the right skills profile and flexibility.
– It helps that we can win big contracts like this, she points out.
Giant project

Aker Solutions has until now been responsible for the pre-engineering of all four platforms that constitute the field center, an agreement was signed at the end 2013.
Large contract
Jon Arnt Jacobsen, chief procurement in Statoil, says the contract is big in their scale.
– This is a great day. It is properly fun and an important contract for us and Aker Solutions. It is also important for the partnership, which has been working on this a long time. This represents a new step for us. We have a new model and a new EPMA contract which is much larger and more extensive than what we usually do, he says, to TU.
Arne Sigve Nylund, executive vice president for Development and Production Norway says in the press release that Johan Sverdrup field development is of great importance not only for Statoil and its partners, but also to the supplier industry and the community.

Development in February
The contract award presupposes that it is taken an investment decision for Johan Sverdrup development now in February and also subject to the development plan are approved by Parliament 2015.
Statoil plans to hand over the development plan for Johan Sverdrup to authorities on 13 February.
Yesterday it was also known that Kvaerner will build the steel jacket for one of the four platforms in the first part of the Johan Sverdrup development.
