The contract includes engineering and procurement management (EPMA) until the planned production start in 2019. It revolves around riser and process platform covered Johan Sverdrup field’s first phase in addition to interconnects and walkways for the entire field, said Statoil.
Margaret Øvrum, EVP Technology, Projects and Drilling in Statoil, says she thinks it is gratifying that Norwegian suppliers are competitive so that this contract may signed.
– This is an important contract for the project, and we have great expectations for implementation, she said.
1000 employees
Aker Solutions has until now been responsible for the pre-engineering of all four platforms that constitute the field center, an agreement was signed at the end of 2013.
More than 1,000 employees of Aker Solutions in Oslo, London and Mumbai will be involved in the new contract.
Johan Sverdrup is among the largest oil discoveries ever on the Norwegian shelf, and the start of production at the field is planned for late 2019. In addition to Statoil Lundin Norway, Maersk Oil, Petoro and the Norwegian oil company partners in development.
Great importance
– Johan Sverdrup development is of great importance not only for Statoil and its partners, but also to the supplier industry and society. The contract award presupposes an investment decision for Johan Sverdrup development in February year and are subject to the plan for development and operation will be approved in Parliament during the year.
