Kvaerner billion contract Johan Sverdrup – Aftenposten

Signing of the final agreement Tuesday came after Statoil, on behalf of Johan Sverdrup partners, in June last year signed an agreement with Kvaerner delivery steel chassis to the platform.

Kvaerner CEO Jan Arve Haugan denotes the transition from intent to signed contract as a milestone.

– Johan Sverdrup will be the largest industrial project in Norway for decades. Therefore, it will provide a number of important opportunities for contracts throughout the industry for many years to come. This is an important contribution in a transitional period where the sector is experiencing reduced activity of other projects, says Haugan.

The platform will be delivered in summer 2017. Engineering work has now started at Kvaerner offices in Oslo. Kvaerner Verdal, formerly known as Aker Verdal, will build the platform. At most 350 shall Kvaerner employees be involved in the project. In addition, around 1,000 people in the supply and service involved in the work.

Johan Sverdrup will account for 25 percent of total production on the Norwegian shelf, said Statoil. Start-up in 2019.
