Trendy with own beer

Micro Breweries pops up all over Norway at the moment. In total there are 900 types of beer in Norway, 800 of them coming from different small-scale breweries.

– The small breweries are helping to change our beer culture. Now it is not about to drink the most, but to get a taste experience together with good food, says CEO Petter Nome in brewing and beverage Society.

The small breweries had last year a growth of 40 percent and currently accounts for 3 percent of all beer being traded. Best known is probably Nøgne Ø, Cheeks and Trondhjem microbrewery.

Some will not make it

– To be on the shelves of KaDeWe gives a tremendous signal effect that this is quality beers. It can open more doors for the brewery, says Nome, while he adds that with the establishment rate he sees in the industry now, there are some who will not make it.

– Most of the new micro breweries operated on volunteers. It is Norway’s most growing hobby, I’m sure, but if you think you will make money on it, you need to think again, says Nome.

Austmann began eighteen months ago. All three founders have backgrounds brygeribransjen, and two of them are trained chef.

Got start using three old ladies

The doctors do not deny that it was not entirely easy to get started.

– There were not many banks that would lend money to three students who would brew beer. It is completely understandable. We left the meetings while still smoke of coffee cup, says Sjue.

– Have they got back their money?

– They get them soon, promises Sjue.

– And thank you for helping, we created a beer to them: “Three old ladies,” he continues.

Friends and acquaintances have helped to build the brewery in an old warehouse. Last year turnover of 5.4 million, the result is not entirely clear, but as they say:

– We are positive about it.

Will halve the price

They do so on the market in Germany and Norway.

– We can not bet on mediocrity. Should we bet, betting everything on reaching the top. Quality precedes everything. This means that a bottle of our beer costs 55 kroner. Now we come soon with a costing half, and then it becomes easier to get sold in shops, says Sjue, before he turns to a few Germans who peeks in ølhyllene.

– This is Norwegian, and we have used real blueberries instead of sugar. No artificial additives and fermented to open tanks. If you are fond of beer, you must taste this, says Sjue with a charming smile and start talking with Michael Bruder and Markus Diekmann.

It ends up that the Germans take with them two bottles in the direction Checkout thank Norwegians in Norwegian, get your business card and promises to stop by the brewery for a beer and a chat when they visit Trondheim sometime in the future.

– Oh, it was fun, says Sjue with a big smile and peeks for the new customers.
