Statoil with two small discoveries in the north of the Njord field – E24

In a message from the Norwegian petroleum directorate, it’s revealed that Statoil has made a discovery in the license 107C in the Norwegian sea in the two wells that are drilled where the rig Songa Delta.

*In well 6407/-9 S hit, on a gross oil column of 102 metres, while reservoarkvaliteten considered to be moderate to poor. The discovery is estimated at between 0.2 to 3 million standard cubic, which corresponds to 1.3 to 18.9 million recoverable barrels of oil.

Now, Statoil and its partners, which includes Faroe Petroleum, consider whether the findings can be linked together with other findings in a development adjacent to the Njord field, according to Npd.

Statoil is currently working on a major project to consider the future of the Njord field. The project is called Njord Future and should start in 2017. The Njord A platform is already towed to the kværner’s yard at Stord, where he now conducts preparatory works for a remodeling of the platform.

This new discovery in the Njord area builds on the Faroes already significant position in this core area in the Norwegian sea, and has the potential to add further value and reserves to the Njord Future project, ” says chief executive Graham Stewart Faroe Petroleum in a press release.
