1 million Norwegian households lost TVNorge channels – TV 2

After long negotiations between Telenor-owned Canal Digital and Discovery, there is now a break in negotiations. It confirms Harald Stromme, chief of TVNorge and Discovery Networks, the TVNorges Facebook pages.

– I regret to tell you that I have just received word from Telenor that all Canal Digital customers can now lose TVNorge , MAX, Discovery, Eurosport and nine other channels. One million Norwegian households affected.

Telenor apologize to its customers

We regret strongly that we do not have permission to send Discovery channels to our customers, says Tormod Sandstø, Communication Manager, Telenor Norway to TV 2

– We consider that it is a US corporation that has gone to the dramatsike step to not talliate that our customers have access to Discovery channels says Sandstø.

Also CEO of Canal Digital AS, Kårhus, is disappointed by the US media group.

– This is a sad day. We are very disappointed that the US media group choose to go to this drastic step, though on Thursday announced that they were willing to go that far. We have stretched us very far in our offer, especially for the Norwegian-produced channels that matter most to our customers, says Kårhus.

Krass message on the screen

Those who are afflicted by negotiating the breakup will see the following message on the TV screen if they enter one of TVNorge channels.

“This channel is currently not available, then the channel’s owner (Discovery) does not provide Canal Digital permitted to distribute the channel. We regret this greatly, and are working to put in place a new agreement as soon as possible “

– Totally unreasonable demands

Kårhus mean Discovery require too much in the negotiations.

– Discovery, however, put forward unreasonable demands for price increases of several hundred million kroner to cover up for their expensive purchases of various sports rights over the past year, far beyond what we think canals overall is worth for our customers, says he said.

However, it is Discovery strongly disagree.

– We have asked for a price increase for our 13 channels, the equivalent of 1 cup of coffee per customer per year. Telenor calls this an unreasonable demand. They also attempt to sow doubt that this is a correct representation. I can once again assure. Telenor is trying instead to make this a discussion about sport costs, writes Harald Stromme in a press release.

Hard negotiations

According to Campaign tweet Canal Digital by 22.45 o’clock on the status of negotiations.

– The situation remains the at Discovery stand by their claims of significant price increases. We do not accept these demands, as it would result in a significant price increase for you as a customer, wrote Canal Digital on their websites.

Now the negotiations broken and Discovery awaits new offer from Telenor.
