Nito about Statoil cuts: – We have not had real impact, the cards were … – Tu.no

All unions and safety representatives have now withdrawn from the working groups will work on streamlining of Statoil’s operations organization for the shelf.

It happened after the management of the oil company announced that they are considering cutting 600 jobs in the oil industry.

the unions are concerned that a low basic manning offshore installations operated by Statoil will jeopardize safety, and believes that their input is not being heard by the oil company.

– the outcome a foregone conclusion

– All associations and the safety delegate service has been heavily engaged in work throughout the spring to assess efficiency measures and options for the operating model, but we see now that the outcome was mainly foregone conclusion. We have not had a real influence on the key points, the cards were laid in advance, says Jorunn Birkeland, Nito-union representative in the group, on Nitos sites.

As with the other unions in Statoil sees Nito and Tekna it difficult to continue in working groups, type Nito.

– Collaboration between the company and employee representatives to be actively and achieve better solutions through good cooperation.

The union believes that genuine cooperation were not addressed in the process, because Statoil repeatedly pretended be taking into account input from employees.

Do not participate in meetings

Nitos representatives see themselves unable to continue further work in Operation Staffing Project 2016-2019 based on an overall assessment of the conditions now exist, the trade union .

– Our elected representatives in the various working groups in the project will no longer participate in the planned workshops. Furthermore, cooperation must now handled by the formal arenas, says Berit S. Sandven, NITO representative Statoil UPN.

The triggering factor is fear that protection is not required if reason staffing offshore is too low.

– Basic manning shall safeguard history, kontiniuitet, ownership and local knowledge. A solid and competent basic manning is a key to high security. They will assist and coordinate all the different players coming on board from other departments and companies. Besides reviewing the organization as a whole lot of changes at once that we do not yet know the consequences, says Birkeland.

disagree

Statoil says to TU that they respect the decision, but find it sad that the unions withdrew from the working groups.

– the work of the multi-party groups has been important, and we have experienced a great commitment and in a both demanding but also constructive work so far, says spokesman Morten Eek.

He explains that in the future work will the involvement of employee representatives now take place through the established cooperative structure for works councils and working, and through meetings with the individual associations.

Eek will not be involved in that they have not emphasized employee representatives’ views in decisions.

– There is no agreement between employee representatives and management in all aspects of the decision. But we have considered the views carefully, there have been discussions and adjustments, and the views are emphasized also in the final decision, he points out.

Undetermined

Eek emphasizes that it is not yet decided that 600 positions to be removed, but that the measures are pointed to the potential to streamline some 600 FTEs the next three years, until 2019.

– a significant portion will be reduced through natural wastage since many are retiring. Moreover, some fields go out of production in the coming years, while new positions arrive when new fields will be put into production. The fields Gina Krog, Aasta Hansteen and Johan Sverdrup comes all in production over the next three years. In sum, this means that we probably can withdraw efficiency potential without using severance packages or layoffs, he said.

Eek also underlines that there is a clear requirement that the measures to maintain safety on the Norwegian shelf and contribute that this be strengthened.

– As a defined part of the work has drawn up a risk and impact assessment measures for the proposed changes, precisely to avoid that safety is impaired. These measures should again be followed up in a separate implementation plan, and progress will be reported to works councils and management of offshore operations.
