Oil and diamond slam on Wall Street – HegnarOnline

It was a weak start of the week in the US. Dow Jones fell 0.5 percent to 17,640.84, while the broader S & amp; P 500 index ended down 0.8 percent to 2028.27.

Technology Heavy Nasdaq showed a fall of 0.8 percent to 4664.71.

A new prisras oil lowered the energy sector. Overall decline was 2.8 percent. Monday night costs Brent crude $ 48.52 a barrel, down 5.4 percent.

After the stock market kicked Alcoa started earnings season. Alcoa earned 11 cents a share in Q4 2014, compared with minus $ 2.19 the year before.

Revenue rose 14 percent to $ 6.4 billion, against expected 6.04 billion dollars.

The share exceeds two percent by trade, having been up 0.4 percent in regular trading.

Jewel guy Tiffany plunged 14 percent after the cut-year guidance for 2014 to a profit per share in the range of 4.15 to 4.20 dollars, down from the previously indicated 4.20-4.30 dollars.
