Bad Education
Where Norway has the greatest potential for improvement involves large public investments, says Chairwoman Jørn Rattsø.
One conclusion is that Norwegian education is not good enough, and if Norway will be better here, schools must become more productive.
– It is knowledge that is key. And if we are to have high incomes in the future, we need a better education system. Norwegian schoolchildren, the poor skills in an international context, says Rattsø.
In particular seemed Commission it is of concern that Norwegian students show low proficiency in basic subjects. And that many jumps in schools and in education.
– Do not profitable for society
Now it must be seen how education is organized and managed, says Rattsø. Another topic that needs to be seen is the health sector.
– Here we are investing a lot compared to other countries. But often in projects that are unproductive and where costs rise along. Other investments are characterized by substantial operating costs. If we choose the right projects and the right design is an important question, says Rattsø.
Also on transport, major projects that are mentioned as little economically profitable.
– Swedes are much better to invest in profitable developments. In Norway a road less used much less profitable than a road used much, says Rattsø.
