Sandnes Mayor Stanley Wirak has worked in Statoil know the new CEO of Statoil well from earlier. He worked together with Eldar Saetre 1981.

– I think that headquarters feature is going to be even firmer in our region with Eldar Saetre as CEO, believes Wirak.

He is glad that Saetre changed his mind and said yes to the job as chief executive of Statoil. Wirak believes President & CEO will be a “good man” for the region.

– He has seen how important Statoil for the entire West Coast. He has helped build this up almost from scratch. He knows how important it is to ensure the company very well in the community, says Wirak.

– Will spend more time in Stavanger

– This is the first time in many , many years that we now have a CEO of Statoil who actually lives with his family in the area. It will probably do that he will spend more time in Stavanger than some former CEOs, beyond that I do not think this will have any practical significance for the organization of business.



Klaus Mohn is professor of petroleum engineering at the Business School at the University of Stavanger. He does not believe the choice of CEO means a lot for the supplier industry in the district .

It says Klaus Mohn, professor of petroleum economics at the University of Stavanger. He does not believe the choice of Saetre will directly affect the oil-related businesses in the Stavanger region.

– I can not see that What blind candidate elected to the CEO has so much to say for the supplier market. There I will put more emphasis on the focus that Saetre represents in relation to cost reduction and capital discipline. It is what is perhaps most important for the supplier industry, says Mohn.
