– An entire industry stand together in grief with those who have lost loved ones, says a sorrowful EVP Norwegian continental shelf, Statoil Arne Sigve Nylund, Friday night.
Statoil was notified about the accident clock 12:20 and oil company mobilized immediately its readiness division.
– 13 people were on board. Unfortunately, it seems that everyone is dead. We have lost good colleagues and friends. I will not go into details about who they were. Now we think most of all to all those who have lost loved ones, says Nylund said.
– Our colleagues
He confirmed that there were two pilots and eleven passengers on board way from Gullfaks B.
– the passengers were employed by different companies, but everyone was at work for Statoil and our colleagues, said Nylund.
Statoil sent a helicopter emergency personnel to Gullfaks B platform, where production was shut down until further notice, so that employees could get quiet to get a grasp on the tragedy and what had happened. It’s also created a kin center of Bergen. Both sites ask the company to outline qualified persons as dependents and employees can chat with.
Investigating
Statoil know little about conditions at time of the accident and did not want to see the tragedy in the context of previous accidents and events:
– we generally have a high level of security, and it has improved year by year. We have excellent internal resources with us, people who have fleet operation background and who work closely with helicopter operators and we have a high level of security. What has happened today is of course uforståelig.Vi will come back to the causes through the investigation as AIBN to conduct. We will make available the resources necessary for this investigation. We will also implement our own internal investigation to ensure that we learn the maximum of what has happened, to prevent it from happening again, says Nylund
